*Temporary* Move

So I accepted AnimeBlogger.net's Terms of Service and submitted a name and email address. All I need to do is wait for that email asking me to confirm an email subscription for AB's Site Announcements and all that other stuff.

In the meantime, I ported the blog over to WordPress.com so I can use the waiting time to edit some bad-looking html (quarter of the way done...) and save it in an .xml export file so I can import it to the future AB blog when the time comes. I'll be posting there until then. So, if you need to comment on a post or something, COMMENT IT THERE!!! ;)

You can still use the chatbox here, but it's not like anyone uses it, right?

Manliness Suckers - The Reason I like Pink

Posted by Mikoto

They're like leeches. They're cute. They're fuzzy. They make you warm inside. Any guy that watches begins to notice a decrease in his testosterone level.
(Read more...)
I've noticed that during the long time spent in the anime fandom, I've been attracted to the very cute shows as well as the very serious ones. Of course, there are some anime/manga that I'm very skeptical at when I first look at them and find myself searching through various descriptions and, for manga, content until I see something that I find interesting. But there has been a wierd, reocurring trait in me that I have noticed for a long time now... If the show is perceived as cute, adorable, magical, a fluffy romance, girly, or "萌え" - I automatically give it a chance. I've also notice that, as person, I have liked some stuff girls are usually thought to like (such as stuffed animals, cute ribbons/hairbands (on girls, that is...), hardcore romance, etc. I don't crossdress and I'm still straight, though ;)), Doesn't helped that I'm a 兄さん of a very cute 妹... uhh, I mean a older brother of a very cute baby sister. This was NOT the case some years ago in the past.

Something has been sucking up the little manliness I had out of me. I blame quite a selection of anime for this. Actually, I'm going to name the suspect that I believe may have caused this certain female factor in me!

桜 are some of my favorite blossoms!

The #1 suspect. At first, I watched it because the plot seemed interesting and I heard of the major changes it went through went it came to America. All I remember from the US version was that "Sakura" was a snob, valley girl accents were thrown everywhere, and everything single thing was ruined. Anyway, when I first watched the subbed version - I was exposed to the cuteness of which was the narrator, Sakura. I was hypnotized. I couldn't stop watching. I went into a marathon of the whole first season. During the middle of the series, I found myself slowly obsessing over love more than usual and when I finished the series, it was constantly on my mind. Go figure!

Along with watching some more mahou shoujo, along with the generic ones, that "inner female" inside me started to expand without notice! Watching stuff like Full Moon wo Sagashite (Shinigami, known in the English culture as "Grim Reapers"... in the form of animal plushies? Do I really need to explain?), Futago Hime, Di Gi Charat, Tokyo Mew Mew, Hidamari Sketch, etc. really did me in, huh? Presently, shows such as Nanatsuiro★Drops and Moetan (@_@@_@@_@@_@;; if it turns me into a lolicon, I'm going to shoot myself) this season aren't really helping.

And I know I'm NOT the only male with this syndrome. ;) I know that some of you out there got screwed out of your masculinity by watching shows which aren't aimed at your gender and/or age group. What is it about these fluffy shows we call "shoujo" that draws all of us in hook-line-and-sinker? They have a hypnotic power, powerful enough to make you mentally disembody your inner "male" and generally makes you think like a girl sometimes... No, they leech off your manliness, giving the sacred power to all-powerful mec-... All I have to say is: there is no escape. You're doomed. We're all doomed.

Just so you know, the point of this post is not to actually share to the world my inner girliness, it's more of wanting to ask... Do girls think guys who are slightly girly attractive? ^^;;

Finally, I got around to launching that art blog. ;) Check it out. Be warned that alot of my hand-drawn pictures will be taken on a webcam, which means very bad quality, due to my lack of scanner. Other than that, hope you like it. ^^;; First post is Louise from Zero no Tsukaima. ;)

Lucky Star 14

Monday, July 23, 2007 Posted by Mikoto

We get the introduction of Konata's little cousin and Yui 'nee-san's little sister, Yutaka. Finally, a person who is actually shorter than Konata! Of course, we also get an introduction of the silent Minami. (Read more...)

Yui 'nee-san is truely the "ideal cop"... Gosh, when you think about having a car ride with Yui, don't you just feel like regurgitating too? I feel sorry for Yutaka.

Yukata is so cute. No wonder why Konata thinks she's make a great combo with Miyuki. SO moé~!

On to Minami, she sorta' reminds me of Yuki from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. She didn't give me that impression in the manga. However, having the same seiyuu in the anime, the same silence, and the same life-long love of books gave me the slight impression of Yuki in my head. I guess having the same seiyuu caused it... Edit: + Yukata = loli yuri? Hmmm...

Back to Yui...

In my opinion, they'd all get caught sneaking into a bar. ^^;;

Lucky Channel's interest is slowly fading. Maybe because it cuts into the episodes too early nowadays? ^^;; I'd like to see more of the actual show and less of Lucky Channel, but still enough of Lucky Channel to retain its value.

Live action Shiraishi for the win! One of the best parts in the episode. The guy's priceless.

A special thanks to our sponsers. ;D

Nanatsuiro★Drops 02 - I demand some yuri NOW... Kidding.

"Holy ****! Is that a ****?!"

Once a trap, always a trap. To any of you that actually got that reference, I commend you for your extensive knowledge of... traps. (Read more...)

We see Tsuwabuki waking up from a good night's sleep, returned to normal. Was it all a dream? Tell that to that huggable cream of sugar sleeping next to you in bed. ;D Normally, this is kind of a "OH SHI-" situation for an anime guy. So many possibilities... millions of mallets from who-knows-where popping out and landing on the main character's head, the main character being accused of being a 変態 or エッチ and getting his butt landed in prison, or the characters would break into an implied sex scene; the limit of what the broadcast code would allow (yes, I'm fully aware that Tsuwabuki doesn't get it on with Sumomo until later in the game). In Tsuwabuki's case, he got off lucky and Sumomo figured it was just a dream.

My favorite anime expression of all time.

This episode focuses on Sumomo and Yaeno's friendship and trust. Yaeno finds out about Sumomo secret of beinng a Stellar Spinner and Yuki-chan, and Yaeno is put into a promise of trust with her being the only person who can know of their secret, with some character developement from Tsuwabuki/Yuki-chan (it's obvious he's gonna fall in love with Sumomo, eh?). Let's say Yaeno is Nanatsuiro★Drops's Tomoyo, only without the dress-making/videotaping and lesbian tendancies toward Sumomo unlike what I imply and what the anime would mislead you into thinking.

We get a little more information on Tsuwabuki's current situation; his transformation into Yuki-chan isn't permanent. During the day, he's CEO of multi-billion company Wayne Industries and Gotham playboy, Bruce Wayne human but when the sun falls, he's The Batman a sheep.

One gripe about the episode I had was that Yaeno was sort of, well, calm seeing a walking and talking stuffed lamb. My reaction would be a little like this:

Still adorable.

Next episode features a full debut of the antagonist we see in the shadows à la Eriol in episode 1.

Why was Miko-san being so overly-witty and hyper today? It's a hot, summer day - and I'm losing my mind!

Planning on moving to a new host...

You heard me, Blogger. You insensitive bastard. I thought we had something special!

(Read More...)

You heard me, Blogger. You insensitive bastard. I thought we had something special!

Yes, I'm planning on moving the blog to some other host. Actually, I took the first step by emailing Maestro at AnimeBlogger.net. Yes, I look forward to having a blog at AB.net. Yes, I plan to sell the rest of my life to AB.net. Yes, just like all the others. :P

But on to serious matters: I seriously got fed up with Blogger as a blogging platform. My first gripe - the commenting. First off, it would be much easier if there was a form for commenting on my posts instead of people posting comments on a page that loads so seriously slow that you'd have to refresh the page at least a million times until something actually APPEARS on the blank page. Does Blogger offer that? No. Yes, I was exaggerating on the "million" thing, but it really is pretty annoying. My layout, one of the only good Blogger templates (will go into that shortly), doesn't provide me a comment box - so I searched all over Google for some sort of "comment box code". Didn't find a thing.

Second gripe, the templates and layouts. Blogger offers some really unprofessional-looking templates that no serious blogger would use for their blog. I know, appearence isn't everything, but still... That's why I chose this modified version of Kubrick to be my blog's template. I generally check out alot of Wordpress layouts ported to Blogger and give Blogger-original templates the cold shoulder. The only downside is that I have to add and update the sidebar manually, which isn't a problem at all. I stick with Blogger-classic layouts, not the xml layouts which requires you to use "Blogger elements". Thing is, some of the xml layouts ARE good, but the "labels" are DISORGANIZED compared to how one would cleanly organize a sidebars by hand. The "labels" are generally all over the place with the Blogger Elements. And I really don't like that (I think) you have to put your "blogroll" in the same section as your "links". Wordpress is a little more... flexible.

Third gripe, the "features". Unlike platforms like Wordpress or MovableType, you have to add third-party "hacks" to your template in order for your blog to be remotely unique. Expandable posts are a pain because I have to add it all in BY HAND. Why does the Blogger team not add a "Expandable Posts Feature" to Blogger when a lot of people obviously want it? Did I mention that they added polls JUST NOW?

Fourth gripe, the glitches (such as the recently imfamous and recently fixed "I cannot type in a title for my post" glitch) and the lags (like whenever I try to make a new post and the page IS BLANK or is still loading. Kind of puts a stop to regular activity, huh?).

Last gripe, the load. THE LOAD. Do not want. Or is it just me?

Anyway... Yes, I contacted Maestro for new hosting. Once he accepts the request and the future setup is complete, update your blogrolls and say goodbye to The Otaku Spot... THE VLOGGER BERSION. Until then, I'll still make posts here, all of which will probably be imported. ^^;

The Chipmunks... are anime fans?

Friday, July 20, 2007 Posted by Mikoto

Made by this guy. Pretty amazing how, with a few programs, something epic like this could be made. The FMA ("Rewrite") one, in my opinion, was the best of the bunch.

What's more amazing is that The Chipmunks learned how to sing in Japanese. :P Hmm, I'd like to see someone mess with the audio of "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor" (NOT an anime song to those music-illiterate) and see how that comes out as. I'm laughing just thinking about it.
